In a time when the average student spends more time daily in front of a screen than sleeping, and adults have to be pried away from their own devices, the culture has become increasingly less personal and more disconnected. Children cannot become proficient at life and job employment skills they don't practice or see modeled. Research indicates that children who do develop those skills, acquire them from a diverse group of adults that include school staff. The skills that one person has to offer may differ from that of their colleague across the hall. A school that respects a variety of personalities and learning styles is better equipped to guide students. Appreciating each other and working collaboratively is essential to meeting that objective.
